FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What is the hardest belt to get?
A. White Belt is the hardest belt to get. It requires motivation and drive to sign up for your first class and continue on to Black Belt level.

Q. What discipline does Panther Tae Kwon Do observe - WT, ITF or International?
A. Panther Tae Kwon Do is World Tae Kwon Do Federation based. Our poomse (patterns) are WT based Taegeuk. Each belt test requires one-step and self-defense techniques, board breaks and poomse to be successfully demonstrated. WT is the discipline (with minor modifications) adopted for Olympic Tae Kwon Do competition.

Q. What is the cost?
A. The current monthly rate is $80 / month per student. There are additional fees associated with each belt testing.

Q. What is the belt progression?
A. The belts are earned as follows:
White (provided when Dobok (uniform) is purchased) --> Yellow Stripe --> Yellow --> Green Stripe --> Green --> Blue Stripe --> Blue --> Red Stripe --> Red --> Black Stripe --> 1st Degree Dan Black

Q. How long will it take me to become a Black Belt?
A. This is the first question every child asks (and every adult wants to ask). It depends on you. We conduct our belt testing 3 times per year, typically in early December, mid-March and late June. If you test at each opportunity and are successful it takes approximately 5-7 years to earn your 1st Dan Black Belt. The Black Belt is the start of your journey towards Tae Kwon Do excellence. Dozens of students have become Kukkiwon accredited World Tae Kwon Do Black Belts through Panther Tae Kwon Do.

Q. What are the benefits of Panther Tae Kwon Do?
A. The benefits for both children and adults are numerous.
Weight Control
Strength
Flexibility
Self-Confidence
Respect
A 150 pound adult burns approximately 650 calories per hour during Tae Kwon Do making it an ideal weight loss activity. This equates to 1 - 2 pounds per month of potential weight loss, a decrease in BMI (Body Mass Index) and an increase in lean muscle mass.
Leg and core strength are greatly improved. Core strength is essential to back health.
Many new students are unable to touch their toes or to kick above their waist. Within a relatively short period of time and with focused effort these flexibility milestones are achievable.
Tae Kwon Do provides a safe and controlled environment in which the student better understands how to strike, what strikes are effective and what it is like to receive strikes. This can provide the confidence to persevere through demanding physical and mental situations.
The relationship between Tae Kwon Do students and Master is based on courtesy and respect by all parties. In addition, younger students learn cooperation, focus, listening skills and learning through repetition.
